In 2020, Leon, Maclay, Chiles, Rickards High School, Valwood School, Florida State University School, Lincoln High School, Maclay Middle School, and John Paul II High Schools raised a total of $545,261.14 For The Kids! Maclay School is in their fourth year working with Dance Marathon at Florida State University. In 2020, Maclay raised $103,182.75 as part of our high school programs and hopes to surpass this in 2021. Some of Maclay's fundraising events include canning at various athletic games and working with local restaurants to host share-it nights. For the first time this year, Maclay School will be fundraising with Maclay Middle School.
Rickards High School
Rickards High School is a second-year program with Dance Marathon at Florida State University. Last year, through countless fundraising efforts, Rickards was able to raise $17,136.12! We are looking forward to seeing what this year has in store in terms of fundraising and putting on another fun-filled event.
Leon High School
The dance marathon movement has united the student body at Leon High School for the past four years. Last year, Leon’s prideful students fundraised $130,156.88 for the Children’s Miracle Network and the FSU College of Medicine’s Pediatric Outreach Programs. At Leon, miracles are made with Lion pride just minutes away from FSU’s Campus.
Lawton Chiles High School
Lawton Chiles High School is a fourth-year program with Dance Marathon at Florida State University. In 2019, the Timberwolves raised $148,276.14 at their marathon! We are excited to see what this year has in store as we try to reach a broader audience within their student body.
St. John Paul II (JPII) Catholic High School
Dance Marathon at St. John Paul II (JPII) Catholic High School serves the community while strengthening their smaller student body. In JPII’s fourth year, their fundraisers were able to collectively raise $26,037.25 while dancing for the kids who can’t. This program was a valued partner who contributed to DM at FSU’s $1.9 million dollar total in 2020.
Lincoln High School
Lincoln High School is a public high school in the Tallahassee area with a student population of more than 2,200. Lincoln High School participated in their first four-hour Dance Marathon in 2017, and is approaching their fifth year in 2021. In their first year, Lincoln raised more than $9,000 for the kids. This past year, they raised $38,264.31 and Lincoln hopes to continue to put forward major fundraising efforts, generate more cause awareness on their campus, create new partnerships with local businesses, and stand, dance, and raise hope and funds for the next generation.
Florida State University School (FSUS)
Florida State University School (FSUS) is the local charter school in Tallahassee supporting FSU. It is a K-12th grade school with over 1,700 enrolled students. Their dance marathon program is mainly centered around the Student Government Association’s leadership. Last year, FSUS had their fourth dance marathon, in which they raised a total of $70,825.40 to help support DM at FSU. Going into their fifth year, FSUS is continuing to grow by involving their own middle school and working to gain more student support to achieve their full potential.
Middle School Marathons
In 2020, Dance Marathon at Florida State University expanded its community marathons to include Middle Schools in the Tallahassee area. These middle schools were Monford, Deerlake, Florida High, Maclay, Trinity, and Gretchen Everhart. In total they raised $16,000, contributing to the $1.9 Million Total.
