Ignite A Fire Within

Every fire starts with a single spark.

With the first fundraising push of the season, Dance Marathon at FSU encouraged its participants to dig deep and find the spark that Ignited A Fire Within. Donors, dancers, and fundraisers alike shared their ultimate why in an attempt to raise $50 in one week. Those who reached their goals received an invitation to an exclusive ice cream social with our miracle families.

“It meant a lot to see how many people were able to come together and donate for our first campaign, especially since it’s the middle of the summer time,” says Michael Hazan, a Recruitment Coordinator and one of our top fundraisers. “I actually teared up when I saw the amount I raised at the end of the week because it meant that every dollar is going to help someone.”

The push also jump-started fundraising for third year participant Leanne Grahn, “I think sometimes we forget to share those kind of stories and I appreciate that it allowed us to reflect on the reasons we are so dedicated to this movement.”

Recognition is especially in store for Brittany Sinitch, the week’s highest fundraiser. “Remembering what ignited my fire as a freshman was extremely humbling and such a positive reminder as to why I choose to stand for the kids each day,” says the DM at FSU Alumni Representative and advisor for Dance Marathon at Marjory Stoneman Douglas. “It is so important that we continue to remember what sparked that fire within us, so that we can continue to inspire future generations to come. We are all stronger and our light will always shine brighter when we come together, for the kids.”

Dance Marathon at FSU would also like to congratulate Team Lauren 1 for being the current highest fundraising team.

Although the first fundraising push is over, we strive to keep the fire within burning bright-- fundraising season has just begun! Make sure to keep an eye on our social media for our next push and for more updates on DM at FSU.
