Leave Your Legacy Year 31

On February 3rd and 4th, DM at FSU kicked off our final fundraising push before our main event, Leave Your Legacy. With February 27th fast approaching, we recognize the significance of moments like these in achieving our ultimate year-long goal. We look back on the year and see how far we have come, knowing that a future of great change is just ahead. For our 7th annual LYL, we aimed to lay it all out on the floor, always keeping in mind that there is more to do for our beneficiaries.

We started our first day together at the integration statue on Legacy Walk where we spent a couple fun hours painting pots, getting glitter tattoos, and, most importantly, fundraising. With power hour from 2-3 pm, everyone got the chance to hit the gong and feel the high energy around a group of people fighting for the same cause. So much so, that we were able to raise just around $6,000 in that short amount of time. After, we all split ways to go hit the gong, the heartbeat of our organization, around campus with our external organizations for ‘Gong on Tour’ converging at

Westcott Fountain with even more energy than before. Moments like these truly show us the importance of being together, where every individual brings something to the table that we can build upon. Many of us took a break after and went over to Blaze Pizza for a Share-It night. Once everyone was fueled up and ready to go, we all met back up in Fisher Lecture Hall for a night of fun-filled activities including: FTKaraoke, Senior Scrapbook, & Bravery Beads!

The following morning, the energy of the day was radiating in the Ballroom of the Student Union. With more tabling events, merchandise, and linedancing, there were opportunities for everyone to start their day off strong. There was also a fun game show hour where competing teams got to face off and show off in Family Feud. As the day went on, we kept up with the activities like field day, power hour, and line dancing lessons from FSU’s own, Dosie Does. Everyone was counted down to 5:30 for our Mini Marathon, giving INL’s, dancers, and even Marathon Veterans a small taste of what is to come at the end of the month. We had such an exciting DJ battle, getting everyone to move their feet and send those final asks to their donors.

When the lights dimmed, everyone gathered in front of the stage and awaited our final reveal. It is with absolute pride that we announced that DM at FSU raised $168,013. This is an incredible $39,000 increase from our previous year, making it a program record. This moment is a reflection of the hard work and dedication we have shown all year. Knowing what we can accomplish in these two days, we cannot begin to imagine what magic will happen at the main event. Every individual involved in this push truly left their legacy for years to come and for all the people we have yet to meet. It is astounding what was accomplished here at FSU, not just today, but every year before. For our main event, we are bringing the legacies of past participants with us and showcasing our passion for the future years to come. However, Year 31 is not over yet; there is still More To Do.
